Elearning Simulation Analysis & Design Document Creation

End Users: Military Personnel

My client was in need of an Analysis (Part 1) and Design Document (Part 2) to be created in a collaboration with a team of others familiar with the project.

A series of courses already existed along 3 different and the employee certification/level determined which course they needed to complete next. The first of the 3 courses that were already being offered to entry-level staff included 3 simulations. The 3 simulations were meant to simulate their every day working environment to prepare them for their role after advancement into the position.

Creation of the Analysis (PART 1) took a collaborative effort of approximately 2 weeks and resulted in an approximately 60- page Word document. Creation of the Design Document (Part 2) took a collaborative effort of approximately 1 month and resulted in an approximately 250-page Word document.

ANALYSIS (Part 1)

Content Received

Access to the overall course & the 3 simulations were provided as well as text transcripts of the simulations.

Analysis

The analysis report was a collaborative effort between approximately 5 members to analyze course content, modules, lesson, terminal learning objectives (TLOs), enabling learning objectives (ELOs), and the overall course content.

Alignment of ELOs, TLOs, and how they aligned with course content and simulation content was given special attention in the analysis document with issues being addressed.

Several user interfaces (UI) and user experience (UX) issues were analyzed in the analysis of the simulations.

DESIGN (Part 2)

Design Documented Created

The 250-page design document provided recommendations for how to improve the alignment of TLOs, ELOs, and content across the course content and simulation content. The request for a further collaborative effort with SMEs was noted. Recommendations were provided on how to improve the simulation gamification, user experience, user interface, and alignment of content to more closely resemble a day in the life.
